2026 WMC Capitol Reef Rendezvous
Important: This Year’s Rendezvous Is Different
Please read this entire post before signing up!
Registration & Requirements
The Capitol Reef Rendezvous is open to 90 WMC Members, including leaders. Leaders will receive priority registration and may be added at any time.
We have added an extra day this year and will be running canyons Thursday through Sunday. Please plan on attending every day if possible!
Every attendee must:
Be a current Wasatch Mountain Club member. Please register or renew your registration before signing up.
Have their own Luma profile with full name and PROFILE PHOTO! No plus-ones are allowed, and each person must register individually.
We reserve the right to verify each registration to ensure members meet the requirements.
Luma will be the primary source for all rendezvous information, so keep notifications turned on until the event is over.
Anyone interested in being a canyon leader needs to confirm with Shane Wallace before registration opens.
Event Costs
The event fee is $95 per person and is paid via Luma. If you register but cannot attend, your registration is not eligible for a refund or a transfer to another person. Every dollar collected will be used for the rendezvous.
What does the event fee cover?
Participation in the WMC Capitol Reef Rendezvous
Your event shirt (see sizing chart below)
Webbing and quick links used by WMC groups during the rendezvous
Shared WMC gear and rope replacement
Fuel expenses for WMC Canyon Leaders
Raffle Prizes!
Camping & Accommodations
Camping must be booked and paid for separately. Most attendees will arrive Wednesday evening and stay through Sunday. Please contact Sand Creek Campground at 435-425-3577 and tell them you are attending the Wasatch Mountain Club Rendezvous to make your camping reservations.
Sand Creek is located in Torrey, Utah, approximately 12 miles from the Capitol Reef Visitor Center. Individual or group tent sites, cabins, RV sites, bathrooms, and showers are available. Group site tent space is limited, so please use the smallest practical tent and share space when possible.
If you wish to stay someplace else, please make appropriate reservations and plan to meet your group at Sand Creek each day unless other arrangements are made.
Shirt Sizing
To find the right size, lay a shirt that fits you well flat and measure across the chest from armpit to armpit. Compare this measurement with the chest sizing guide to choose your size.
You must attend the event to receive your shirt.
Canyon Schedule
Arrive Wednesday night if you want to descend a canyon Thursday morning.
Canyons will be offered Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday routes will generally be shorter so people can begin traveling home.
Be ready to leave camp by the time determined by the leader. Be prepared and if you show up on time, you are late. Canyon sign-ups will take place the day before at the campground pavilion.
Attendance for all four days is strongly encouraged. There are always people waiting for an opening, so please make the most of your time during this rendezvous.
Do not judge a canyon by it's descent time. Long drives, vehicle shuttles, group size, approaches, and exits can turn a short canyon into a full-day outing.
Required Experience & Equipment
Participants must be able to hike at a reasonable pace and provide their own food, camping equipment, fees, and canyoneering gear. Being able to take care of themselves in a canyon meaning downclimbing, rappelling, etc.
Bring appropriate equipment, including:
Harness

Personal Safety or Tether
3-5+ Locking carabiners
Ropes (if applicable)

We will also hold our annual raffle, with canyoneering gear and other prizes available to attendees.
Thursday Beginner Training
On Thursday, Shane will provide a full day of beginner canyoneering instruction, followed by an opportunity to apply those skills. Please confirm during registration if you will be attending. Bonus training may include static, toggle, and double-strand rappels to lowers. Depends on interest
