About Event

Tending collective healing through tending grief and anger.

What does collective healing look like beyond individual tending and survival?

If you are angry

If you are grieving

If you think your grief and your anger have power and wisdom

We invite you to tend your anger and your sorrow in a day of retreat and ritual to tend our broken hearts for healing and transformation, and thus tend the healing and transformation of the collective.

Session 1

12:30 - 2:30

Tending our anger:

Through ritual and reflection, Holly Baldwin will hold sacred space for us to honor our anger and learn its wisdom.

Session 2

3:00 - 5:00

Tending our grief:

Cliff Berrien will guides us through three phases of lamentation to tend our grief and move toward wholeness.

Practicalities:

Cost:

Pay what you can, no one turned away for lack of funds.

Suggested scale: $0-$50.

Registration:

Join us for one or both.

Lunch:

Bring a bag lunch, or have lunch on your own during a spacious lunch break (OR do we offer simple lunch?)

Your hosts:

Cliff Berrien is a drummer, dj, performer and educator who has dedicated 30 years to studying, teaching and performing the rhythms and music of the African Diaspora and many other global music traditions. He has had the honor to work with his mentor Dr. Barbara A. Holmes, author of Crisis Contemplation (2021), in events created to share African diasporic cultural expressions of collective joy, as transformative ways to develop resilience, creativity, cultural dexterity and somatic awareness. He is passionate about sharing the power and beauty of traditional and contemporary sacred and inspirational music from the repertoire of global religious, secular, and wisdom traditions to promote collective joy, unity and global healing.

Holly Baldwin is a mystic and a Quaker, formed and transformed by Quaker and contemplative spirituality, and work for liberatory justice. She holds space for transformation and other spiritual journeys through one-on-one accompaniment, and in community workshops, retreats, and rituals.
