About Event

Critically Extant by Sofia Crespo is a project that explores just how little we know about the natural world by testing the limits of the data openly available to us in our digital lives. To achieve this, AI algorithms were trained on millions of open source images of nature and some ten thousand species. The resulting models were then used to generate visual representations of species that are critically endangered, yet have little or no online presence specially on social media The goal of this was to not only trace the edges of our knowledge, but to also explore how we can create feedback loops in the digital that can be positive for the natural world.

Join us for an exclusive closing reception during Armory Week in New York. As a Bitcoin-denominated life insurance provider, Meanwhile is proud to sponsor this event and looking forward to bringing together a select group of collectors, crypto enthusiasts, and business leaders for this special occasion celebrating Sofia's groundbreaking work at the intersection of art, nature and artificial intelligence.

Sofia Crespo is an Argentinian visual artist living and working in Lisbon, her work centers on technology, drawing inspiration from biology, organic life and how the natural environment uses artificial mechanisms to stimulate and evolve. Her work has been exhibited globally at institutions including the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, and Times Square, New York City. In 2022, Swim, a piece created through her duo with Feileacan McCormick “Entangled Others”, was acquired by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum for its permanent collection. Along with Anna Ridler, Sofia Crespo won the 2025 ABS Digital Art Prize in the Artists of the Year Category.

Ahead of the main event, we're hosting a curator's tour at

Sarah Meyohas Studio: 2 PM, location to be shared privately

Sarah Meyohas is a conceptual artist whose practice considers the nature and capabilities of emerging technologies in contemporary society. Using the familiar emblems of biological life, Meyohas investigates the complex operations that increasingly govern our world: soaring birds, created using augmented-reality software, flock in unison with the frenetic variations of the stock market; rose petals, aggregately identical but individually unique, comprise the dataset for their AI-created equivalents; Bitchcoin, a cryptocurrency backed by physical artworks, questions the speculative value of cryptocurrency and the ineffable value of art. Meyohas creates an intelligible visual language to articulate the systems and technologies that increasingly influence our world. She holds a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Finance from the Wharton School. In 2015 she received an M.F.A. in Photography from Yale University.
