The HealthTech Triangle January Happy Hour & Conversation: How Life Insurance Could Reverse and Prevent Chronic Disease
How often do you hear leaders talk about “misalignment” and “misincentives” in health care, yet watch the system continue to reward higher costs and sicker patients?
If that disconnect frustrates you, this meeting is for you!
Join us to discuss “How Life Insurance Could Reverse and Prevent Chronic Disease?” featuring Jeremy Shane, author of the newly released book Life for Health, moderated by Bryce Platt, PharmD. They will examine why today’s health care system fails to reduce chronic disease, and how a fundamentally different approach to multi-decade disease threats could work.
Shane argues in Life for Health that health insurance is designed for short-term and acute issues. We need a second system, built around life insurance, to create decades-long alignment among insurers, individuals, and clinicians, increasing Americans’ healthspans and reducing total health spending.
It’s a discussion that will challenge many dogmas and spur thinking about what’s both necessary and possible.
The event will be held at 5:30 PM on 1/28 at American Underground (201 W Main St, Durham, NC 27701). When you enter the lobby, we’ll direct you to the event area. Free food and drinks will be provided, followed by the conversation starting at 6 pm and followed by an hour of networking with local health care leaders.
See you there!
