Sentientist Afternoon: Culture and Language - 17th May

​Sentientism is a worldview summed up nicely by the motto: “Evidence, reason and compassion for all sentient beings”. These meet-ups are a chance to discuss strategies for moving the world towards one that better aligns with these values.

​For this meet-up, we’ll be focusing on culture and language. The discussion will explore how sentientist values could shape cultural norms, narratives, and everyday practices; how language influences the way we think about and relate to different sentient beings; how current cultural and linguistic frameworks align or conflict with compassion for all sentient beings; and what practical changes might help move society in a more sentientist direction.

​Please note that as the Spread Eagle is not taking table bookings on the 17th due to the Hackney half marathon, this will be a relaxed, informal, drinks and chat affair. We may move to another location later if people would like somewhere less busy or to order food.
