About Event

Understand your cash flow, explore your financing options, and learn what lenders look for.

Building a business takes capital—and knowing when and how to use it. Whether you’re managing everyday expenses, planning an equipment purchase, or preparing to grow, understanding your financial position can help you make more confident decisions.

Join us on October 15 for The Power of Capital, the first pilot workshop for Capital Ready @ Humanmade, led by Pablo Solares of JPMorgan Chase. This session will explore the connection between cash flow, borrowing, and business growth, with a practical look at how lenders evaluate your business and how to prepare for financing conversations.

What we’ll cover

  • Cash flow strategy: Why a profitable business can still be short on cash, and how to plan around payment timing, cash reserves, and money coming in and going out.

  • Borrowing with a plan: How to assess whether borrowing makes sense for your business, understand costs and fees, and build a realistic repayment plan.

  • The lender’s perspective: How lenders consider your business history, cash flow, seasonality, credit, growth plans, and personal finances.

  • Financial readiness: The documents lenders typically expect—including tax returns, a balance sheet, and a profit and loss statement—and the financial measures they use to assess your business.

  • Your capital options: How business credit cards, lines of credit, and term loans differ, alongside an introduction to SBA loans, community lenders, venture capital, and local grants.

Who it’s for

Founders and small business owners who want a clearer understanding of their finances and funding options—whether you’re considering borrowing now or preparing for future growth.

You’ll leave with a clearer sense of what to consider before borrowing, what lenders need to see, and where to focus your financial preparation.
