🌍 AI Governance Club

When a developer builds a chatbot on an open-source foundation model, what they inherit from that model is hard to see and harder to remove. This report tests that problem at scale. China Media Project ran models from ten companies through systematic, multi-language testing and found embedded behaviors that persisted through fine-tuning, rebranding, and de-censoring efforts, a supply-chain issue for anyone deploying these models.

Join the AI Governance Club for session 34, where we'll discuss the report:

Guided Intelligence – China's AI Strategy and the Global Information Space (2026)
Colville, A. et al.

Presenter: Tim Durgin
Format: Presentation + Open Moderated Discussion

Tim Durgin is a linguist and project manager with 15 years in software localization, fluent in Mandarin Chinese, with experience at Google and Amazon. His focus on AI governance, existential risk, and U.S.–China technology competition makes him a natural guide through this paper's stakes.
