Fasting and Eating for Health
If you've ever been interested in fasting but don't know where to start we'll be doing an informal discussion over dinner on the benefits of fasting and some of the literature around it.
Grab a plate and let's chat about not eating!
Background:
I've been consistently intermittent fasting for ~5 years and it works really well for me as a way to regulate weight, improve focus during working hours, and maintain beneficial biological processes (autophagy, ketosis, and more which we'll be discussing).
Additionally I've done a 100+ hour fast and can share learnings and experience around it.
Optional:
I'll be starting a 36 hour fast following this meal that you're welcome to do as well, and will bring electrolytes to use during your fast if you chose to participate.
This event was inspired by discussions with other NS members who are interested in joining, so if you want the bonus of social pressure to get through a day without munching this is your chance!
Note - there are certain medical conditions like diabetes that make fasting higher risk. You should have a good understanding of any ongoing conditions you have that may impact your ability to participate before deciding to fast.
