fwb 🎲 Dungeons & Dragons: a queer party
Join fwb for our first Dungeons and Dragons One-Shot and Play Party. Six lucky questers will be randomly selected to join our Dungeon Master at the table. But fair warning: this campaign doesn't end at combat. What unfolds in the dungeon is woven directly into what unfolds at the party. Think of it as theater, tabletop, and a little bit of chaos magic — all rolled into one.
SCHEDULE
7:00 PM — Doors open — roll for initiative
Arrive, mingle, grab a drink. Six adventurers will be randomly selected from all who attend. Will the dice favor you?
8:00 PM — The campaign begins
Our six chosen questers take their seats. Spectators play an active in the game — there's no fourth wall here.
10:00 PM — Doors lock — the play party begins
We pause for our safety + consent speech (yes, it's mandatory, and yes, it's hot that we do this). Then the dungeon gets a lot more interesting.
The play party isn't a separate event — it's built into the one-shot itself. As your characters navigate the one-shot, the story creates real-world invitations for the players. The DM handles the weaving. Your job is to show up, stay in the game, and communicate clearly with your fellow adventurers.

1:30 AM — Everyone out
No D&D experience required. The DM will handle the rules. You handle the roleplay.
ABOUT YOUR HOST & DUNGEON MASTER
Mx. Beyond is a warm-hearted event organizer and the visionary behind In the Mx!, an LA-based event company dedicated to creating inclusive and vibrant spaces for queer, Black, and trans communities. Known for their nurturing spirit and playful touch, Mx. Beyond crafts experiences that feel like home, inviting everyone to relax, connect, and celebrate their unique selves. Whether it’s a nerdy movie outing, a soulful celebration, or a lively night on the town, every event by Mx. Beyond is designed to leave people feeling inspired, supported, and uplifted.
Cai (he/they/she) is a Los Angeles, CA based performer, artist and designer using their unique perspective as a queer, mixed, nonbinary person to tell stories. Cai has been running tabletop games for over five years with player fun and heartfelt storytelling taking center-stage for every experience. They can be found around the internet as @estelofimladris!
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST FWB PLAY EVENT
Purchase a ticket at least 72 hours prior to the event.
Your credit card will be authorized and you will receive an automated email with links to fill out an application and schedule a 15 minute interview. You must complete both your application and interview before being approved for an event.
Once we approve your RSVP, your credit card will be charged. If you're not approved, we'll cancel your RSVP and your credit authorization will be removed.
Unapproved guests will be turned away at the door.
LOCATION & ACCESSIBILITY
We host our in-person events at our Clubhouse in the Historic Core of DTLA.
The building is ADA accessible. There is an elevator. Note for people with wheelchairs, canes, other walking assistance devices: the tile of the lobby floor is uneven so be careful navigating, and the bathroom is not ADA compliant.
This is a low-scent event: no perfume, cologne, or essential oils. The Clubhouse is no-shoe space. When you enter, please leave your shoes on the shoe rack by the front door. If you need an exemption, please email [email protected].
PARKING
There are paid lots, garages, and street parking within a block of the loft. We will send out additional information once your RSVP is confirmed.
SAFTEY IN DTLA
Please be mindful of your surroundings when arriving and leaving. Many of us are longtime downtown residents and have never personally had an issue walking around at night, but DTLA is full of interesting characters from all walks of life, especially on weekends. We love our community and ask that you're respectful of everyone you encounter.
COMMUNITY HEALTH & SAFETY
COVID, Cold, and Flu: We recommend all attendees test for COVID before you arrive. No need to send results - we trust you. If you are feeling sick, were recently exposed to someone who is sick, or test positive, we ask that you stay home to help us keep our community safe and healthy and we will credit you for a future event.
We provide face masks and hand sanitizer at the clubhouse. We run air purifiers during and between events. While we take all the precautions we can to be covid safe, this is ultimately an event with risk of infection. If you are higher risk of infection or adverse effects for covid or other illnesses, we encourage you to err on the side of caution.
REFUND & CANCELLATION POLICY
We do not offer refunds if you cancel or change your reservation. In some cases, we do offer event credits. Contact [email protected] if you:
Need to cancel or change your reservation. Please let us know 48 hours prior to an event, and we will credit you for a future event.
If you are sick, were recently exposed to someone who has covid, or tested positive. Let us know ~2 hours prior to an event start, and we will credit you for a future event.
We offer refunds if we cancel an event for any reason. We'll send out a cancellation email. Attendees who wish to receive a refund for their ticket purchase will need to respond within 7 days of the cancelled event. All other tickets will receive a credit for a future event.
