An Allyship Workshop: Beyond the Sticker
Most of us have walked past a Pride flag or an "Everyone Is Welcome Here" sticker without thinking twice about what's behind it. This session asks what comes after noticing it — what it actually takes to act as an ally.
We'll cover the basics of allyship: what it looks like in practice, not just in principle, and why a healthy work culture depends on people doing it consistently, not just during Pride month. We'll also break down the communities represented in the flag itself — what each colour and stripe stands for — and trace how the design has changed over the decades, from the original rainbow flag through the additions that make it what it is today.
What to expect:
A clear, practical definition of allyship — and the difference between performative and active support
A walk through the flag's design history and the communities each addition represents
Real workplace scenarios: what allyship looks like when it's hard, not just when it's easy
Discussion on what a genuinely welcoming work culture requires, beyond a sticker on the door
Come curious.
