International Västeråskvällen

Snacka Stage – International Västeråskvällen

An evening of young voices, international perspectives and local connections—in Swedish and English.

What is it like to grow up between languages and cultures? What makes a city feel like home? And what can young people teach us about belonging?

Join young International Baccalaureate (IB) students in Västerås, parents and other local residents for an evening of stories and conversations about international life in our city. Created in collaboration with Carlforsska IB and Mälardalen International School, this edition of Snacka Stage puts young people’s perspectives at the heart of the conversation.

International education, local voices

IB education encourages young people to be curious, open-minded and caring: to explore different perspectives, communicate across languages and cultures, and make a positive difference in their communities. These ideas are central to the IB learner profile and inspire this evening.

Snacka Stage brings that spirit beyond the classroom, throughout the IB path in Mälardalen in the local Västerås setting. It is a chance to meet young IB students in Västerås, hear their experiences and explore what it means to be international, multilingual and part of Swedish society.

What to expect

The programme includes:

• Student and parent stories about living, studying and building a life in Västerås

• A bilingual panel discussion about language, belonging and international life

• Opportunities to ask questions and share your perspective

• Fika and time to meet new people

The evening will include both Swedish and English. You don’t need perfect Swedish to join—come with curiosity and a willingness to listen, share and connect.

Whether you are part of the IB community, new to Västerås or a long-time resident, you are welcome.
