Join MCBcDNA for a fireside chat with Hal Barron, CEO, Founder & Board Co-Chair of Altos Labs, a biotechnology company focused on cellular rejuvenation programming to reverse disease and extend human healthspan.
Hal has spent nearly three decades at the top of drug development in biopharma. He began his career at Genentech in 1996, rising through clinical research to become Senior Vice President of Development and Chief Medical Officer. He went on to serve as Executive Vice President, Head of Global Product Development, and Chief Medical Officer at Roche, overseeing the combined Roche/Genentech product portfolio, before leading R&D at Calico, the Alphabet-backed venture focused on the biology of aging. From 2018 to 2022, he served as Chief Scientific Officer and President of R&D at GSK, where he redirected the company's pipeline toward immunology, human genetics, and next-generation technologies. In 2022, he left GSK to found Altos Labs.
In this fireside chat, we'll talk about his path across four different eras of biopharma R&D, what he's learned about building and leading scientific organizations at scale, and why he chose to bet his career on the science of cellular reprogramming.
