The Gateway to Lucid Living

with Norma J. Burton & Nisha Burton

Lucid dreaming is not reserved for the special few - it is a trainable skill, and a doorway into the deeper art of psychonavigation™: learning to move through your own psyche with clarity, intention, and skill. In this workshop, mother-daughter teaching team Norma Burton and Nisha Burton guide participants through the foundational practices that ancient cultures once used to work consciously with the mind and subconscious - practices our culture has largely forgotten, to our collective detriment.

Participants will be introduced to lucid dreaming as an accessible, learnable practice, along with dreamwork, shadow work, and drumming journeys as complementary pathways into the unconscious. Together, these tools help build a working map of one's own inner world - supporting healing from past wounds, sharpening intuition, and strengthening discernment.

Rooted in nearly thirty years of Norma's work in Buddhist practice, Jungian shadow work, and trauma healing, and brought into the present by Nisha's own extensive lucid dreaming and astral projection experiences, this workshop offers a rare intergenerational lineage of teaching - practical, embodied, and grounded in decades of lived experience.

Norma J. Burton is a pioneering expert in complex trauma healing with over 40 years of counseling experience. She did M.A. and Ph.D. work at Berkeley's Graduate Theological Union, and M.Div. at Pacific School of Religion with specializations in Hospice Chaplaincy and Psychology. Her distinguished career began with a decade of leadership in domestic violence advocacy, where she served at the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence headquarters. Norma Burton served as Director of Thich Nhat Hanh's Buddhist Peace Fellowship, bringing contemplative practice into direct service of peace and social engagement. Norma founded and directed The Circle of Trust Healing Center in 2014, a state-certified addiction recovery and mental health facility. Having apprenticed with Indigenous elders for over 30 years, she founded the Journey to Completion™ methodology, praised by professionals from Harvard, MIT, and Columbia Law School. She co-created curriculum for Amsterdam's Synthesis Institute and served on Oregon's Psilocybin Therapy Rules Advisory Committee.

Nisha Burton is a lucid dreaming practitioner, award-winning filmmaker, and emerging technologies consultant. Raised in a shamanic lineage, she grew up traveling the world as a child to study directly with wisdom keepers.  She carries ancestral knowledge of altered states and soul work passed through Choctaw, Santee, and Cree lines, a Yoruba lineage rooted in her father's work, and a Druidic thread on her mother’s Celtic side. From an early age, she was steeped in the disciplined art of navigating one's own psyche with skill - above all through staying impeccable by doing the deep, ongoing work of shadow integration. This lineage-rooted foundation shapes how she guides others through altered states today. Along with lineage-based knowing, she has also extensively studied Tibetan Dream Yoga, Jungian Dream Analysis, and dream researchers such as Stephen LaBerge. As co-founder of Lucid Living Inc., she delivers Lucid Dreaming workshops globally. Nisha has co-authored three books on consciousness exploration: Navigating Liminal Realms (Findhorn), Lucid Dreaming Lucid Living (Red Wheel/Wieser), and The Psychonaut's Oracle (Schiffer). She speaks internationally on consciousness navigation and AI innovation.
