About Event

Join us on Tuesday, 2 June at 18:00 at the Commons Hub Brussels for an evening on what robust European AI policy could look like across very different futures.

Future-Proofing Europe: The AI Preparedness Report

The trajectory of AI development remains genuinely uncertain. Progress could plateau, consolidate around a handful of frontier labs, accelerate into a US-China arms race, push toward international cooperation, or tip into a takeoff where AI systems automate their own improvement. Each scenario demands different responses, which leaves European policymakers in a strategic trap: betting heavily on one outcome risks being caught off guard if another unfolds.

A new report by the Centre for Future Generations (CFG) sets out twenty policy options designed to perform well across all five scenarios, organised around three pillars: building capacity for competitiveness, defending digital sovereignty, and leading global governance. We'll be joined by David Janků, the report's leading author, now at the Arq Foundation and previously on the Advanced AI team at CFG, to walk us through the report's findings and the robust actions the authors argue should be prioritised now.

Schedule

  • 18:00 | Arrivals

  • 18:15 | Presentation by David Janků, followed by a fireside chat moderated by David Timis

  • 19:10 | Reception: Continue the conversation over drinks.

Please RSVP as space is limited. Looking forward to seeing you!

This event is organised by the Brussels AGI Collective, a community exploring what advanced AI means for Europe's future, and supported by BlueDot Impact, a nonprofit dedicated to advancing AI safety by training and connecting talented people to work on technical, policy, and societal challenges. Since 2021, BlueDot has trained over 7,000 people worldwide, with thousands already working in high impact roles at places such as Anthropic, Google DeepMind, and the UK’s AI Security Institute.

We are delighted to be hosted at Commons Hub Brussels, a citizen-led community centre at the heart of Brussels.
