About Event

🧬 By the time Alzheimer's is diagnosed, the damage is already done. What if we could get there first?

For three to four decades, clinical trials have chased treatments and cures for Alzheimer's disease. The problem is timing. Entire lifetimes of memories vanish, daily routines unravel, and families carry a healthcare burden that can feel insurmountable, all before most drugs even get a chance to work.

Join a neuroscientist and gene therapy researcher Dr. Raj Putatunda for a deep dive into a different approach: intervening at the genetic level, before symptoms take hold. Drawing on his work in biotech developing novel gene therapy technologies, he will walk through what gene therapy actually is and how it's being used to target the biological drivers of Alzheimer's, not just its symptoms.

We'll cover what's worked, what hasn't, and why gene therapy represents a genuine shift in how scientists think about neurodegenerative disease more broadly. Come curious and leave with a real sense of where this field is headed. ✨

📵 A No-Phone Lecture 📵

This event is a special one: we are asking attendees not to use their phones during the duration of the event (7-9pm). After you check in, we will ask you to turn your phone off and slip it into an envelope provided at the door. We won’t take your phone or lock it away, but the goal is to create a space where we can all be present together, listening and thinking without distractions. If you’d like to take notes, please make sure to bring a journal!

*Accessibility & Seating Information

We work hard to keep our lectures as accessible as possible while safely accommodating as many attendees as we can. Each of our venues is different. This venue has approximately 25% standing room. If you need a guaranteed seat, please plan to arrive early or email us at hello@bigbrainlectures.com so we can make special accommodations for you.
