Effective Altruism social in The Hague: Pubquiz!
What is this?
We had a blast when we did this pubquiz in November, so my new year's resolution is to go more often. I booked for two teams participating in the famous pubquiz at O'Caseys (we'll make it one team if there's no more than 6 people). Please register so that we know how many people to expect.
Also, come to talk about anything that can fall under EA: the importance of donating money to important causes, caring about other humans and animals, developments that can be significant for the future, what you can do with your personal career, and just anything that's on our mind. There's enough time for random chit-chat in between rounds.
The bar is pretty large, find our table(s) by asking for Jasper Stammes at the entrance and/or recognizing me.
Who is this for?
Professionals and older students (e.g. Master's), who are part of or interested in the effective altruism community.
If you're a newcomer you are especially welcome! Also if you prefer talking in Dutch over English or are not really aware of what effective altruism even is, we are happy to give an introduction.
Consider bringing along a friend, as long as they are interested in discussing how to best make the world a better place.
Effective Altruism (EA): a growing social movement that has the desire to make the world as good a place as it can be. It uses evidence and reason to find out how to do so and takes action to make it happen. Read more about Effective Altruism at http://effectiefaltruisme.nl/ (Dutch organisation, website available in English) or https://www.effectivealtruism.org/ (international).
