Summits, Setbacks and the Decisions in Between
A fireside with Jason Black
Summary
Ireland's only surviving K2 summiteer on the setbacks, the reinventions and the hardest calls he made between the summits.
About this event
Most leadership stories are told from the summit. This one is about the decisions on the way up. And on the way down.
Jason Black is Ireland's only surviving K2 summiteer. In May he led the Irish expedition to the summit of Everest. In June he took a group of us into the Atlas Mountains, and we saw first hand how he leads when conditions change by the hour.
What sets Jason apart isn't the summits. It's his willingness to question his own thinking in the middle of an expedition. To change the plan when the mountain demands it. To let go of what he wanted for the sake of what the team needed.
He has done the same off the mountain, facing real adversity in his own life and reinventing himself more than once. So we're sitting down with him for an honest conversation. No polished keynote. Just the real story and what it means for anyone carrying the weight of other people's decisions.
What we'll explore
