Camp MaiVERICK: Taming AI
Hello All!
As we navigate AI and its possible uses in our learning environments, it will be necessary to create and adapt structures that will allow us to use these tools responsibly as we design experiences for educators and young people. How and why we engage with these tools is a question that we as educators must strategically plan for.
In this 3-hour collaborative experience, we'll work together to determine how the Portrait of a Nevada Learner informs the scaffolds we may use to maximize our use of AI tools while maintaining the human element that makes education so special.
Specifically, you'll learn the TAMER framework, a practical prompting structure that empowers you to create meaningful AI partnerships while keeping human expertise and student learning at the center.
The questions we'll explore during this session:
What is a prompting framework and why do frameworks empower learning partnerships?
How might we use the TAMER framework to design instructional experiences that support the Portrait of a Nevada Learner?
What examples can we share which demonstrate how prompting frameworks can be used with our current instructional realities?
What you'll take away:
Practical Framework: TAMER as your go-to structure for thoughtful AI collaboration
Concrete Artifact: A redesigned lesson plan from your own curriculum that demonstrates effective AI partnership
Ongoing Support: Access to resources and community for continued learning and collaboration
Who should attend:
K-12 educators and administrators across all grade levels and subject areas who want to integrate AI thoughtfully into their practice.
What you'll need:
A device which can access the internet
Access to Google Gemini (preferred)
An Explorer's Mindset
Optional: A lesson plan you'd like to redesign (we'll also provide materials)
