ID Power Hour: Killing the Course
Kill the Course 💀
What if the best learning solution… isn’t a course?
A stakeholder comes to you with a familiar request:
“We need a 60-minute training course.”
Sounds simple. But this time, your job isn’t to build it.
Your job is to kill the course. 💀
In this interactive ID Power Hour session, we’ll challenge one of the most common assumptions in L&D: that every performance problem needs a training solution.
You’ll work with a real-world challenge, investigate what’s actually causing the problem, question the proposed solution, and decide what intervention could actually change performance.
Is training really the answer? Or are we solving the wrong problem?
Together, we’ll explore how to move from “What course should we build?” to “What problem are we actually trying to solve—and what would actually change the outcome?”
No long presentations. No perfect answers. Just evidence, different perspectives, and a room full of L&D people trying to kill the course before it kills another hour of someone’s calendar. 😄
What to expect
A real-world challenge
Root cause investigation
Small-group problem solving
Evidence-based decision making
Plenty of debate, experimentation, and questionable attempts at course murder 💀
Come ready to challenge assumptions, defend your solution, and prove that sometimes the smartest learning decision is knowing when not to build learning at all.
Can you kill the course?
