Belonging is Power | Workshop Series

Pillar 2: Family & Community

Building a life in a new country is something we often think of as an individual journey.

Finding a home; learning the language; navigating a new job. Figuring things out; but none of us exist in isolation.

We are constantly shaped by the people around us: our families, friendships, communities, cultures, and the invisible expectations we carry with us. They can ground us, challenge us, support us, and sometimes weigh heavily on our shoulders.

In this second workshop of our Belonging is Power series, we'll explore the role of care and community in our migration journeys.

Together, we'll reflect on the relationships that sustain us, the responsibilities we carry, and the kinds of support we need to build lives that feel both connected and truly our own.

Throughout the afternoon, we'll combine gentle movement, guided reflection, writing practices, and facilitated group conversations in a brave and welcoming space.

About the Facilitator

This session will be led by Carla Maria de Souza, the founder of Project Tres. Carla is a social entrepreneur dedicated to fostering personal growth and financial autonomy for migrant and local women. Her work focuses on supporting those in vulnerable situations by providing the tools for sustainable independence and social empowerment. Born, raised, and educated in Brazil, Carla has been living in Berlin for the past 8 years and understands firsthand the complexities of the migration journey.
