About Event

Join us for a new conference in the Closing the Circle series, focusing on circular construction. Hosted at Impact Hub's offices in Penha da França, this event will explore practical strategies and solutions for advancing circular economy principles in the construction industry.

The conference will address the challenges of creating a circular construction industry, featuring insights from academia, policy research, entrepreneurs, and industrials, and will conclude with a Q&A session.

Our lineup of speakers:

Marco Frazão Pedroso: Marco F. Pedroso (PhD), senior civil engineer and researcher, will discuss the National Action Plan for Circularity in Construction in Portugal and its potential applications at the municipal level in Lisbon. He will highlight the global impact of the construction sector on emissions and resource depletion and emphasize the urgency for businesses to adopt circular practices in line with European taxonomy, targets, and ESG requirements.

Joana Tomas and Vincent Rault: Muro atelier is a collective founded by the architectural duo Joana Tomas and Vincent Rault, dedicated to exploring the concepts of ephemerality and circularity through a participatory practice based on the reuse of materials and the revitalisation of unoccupied spaces.

Moderated by: Khadija Benis: Khadija is an experienced architect with a Master of Science in Urban Studies and a PhD in Sustainable Energy Systems. She has a deep interest and extensive expertise in sustainable design, urban metabolism, food systems, carbon accounting, and environmental modeling of the built environment. Khadija offers sustainability and green building consulting, focusing on implementing solutions that significantly reduce operational and embodied carbon. Her work contributes to the creation of more resilient buildings that meet high standards for occupant comfort and health.

Join us to explore these diverse perspectives and discover how we can collectively advance the circular economy in the construction industry.

The event will be followed by networking around food and drinks.
