The Table. Midlife Health for Women.
Mental Health: Navigating the Emotional Side of Midlife
Mood shifts, anxiety, mental fog, a quiet sense that something has changed — midlife affects the mind as much as the body. This month we talk about it.
About this session
The emotional landscape of midlife is rarely talked about honestly. Hormonal shifts influence mood, anxiety, focus and sleep in ways that can feel confusing or even alarming — yet they're often dismissed or misunderstood. This month we explore what's actually happening, how to distinguish between what's hormonal, what's circumstantial, and what might need more support — and how to advocate for yourself in a healthcare system that doesn't always take it seriously.
What we'll explore:
How perimenopause and hormonal shifts affect mood, anxiety, and cognition
The difference between hormonal mental health changes and clinical conditions
Practical strategies for emotional regulation and mental resilience in midlife
When and how to seek professional support — and what good support looks like
Community experience: what's worked, what hasn't, what we wish we'd known sooner
