Civic Punks visits Ottawa 2.0
Four months ago, I came to Ottawa to launch Civic Punks, a project exploring the future of government through the eyes of the people building it.
Since then, I’ve travelled across Asia, the Pacific, and Europe, meeting public servants, civic innovators, technologists, researchers, and reformers asking big questions about what government needs to become next.
Now I’m coming back to Ottawa to share what I’ve been hearing.
This event is part travelogue, part field report, and part conversation. I’ll share stories from the road, the themes that keep coming up, what feels hopeful, what feels stuck, and what people are building, testing, and questioning.
I’ll also talk about where Civic Punks is heading next as I prepare for trips to Africa and South America this fall.
But this is not meant to be a one-way download. I also want to hear from you.
What kind of government do you want to see? Who gets to shape it? And how do we make sure people are included in building it?
Come hang out with other people in Ottawa who care, or are at least curious, about making government more human, useful, trustworthy, and responsive.
