House of Memory Party: An evening Inspired by Day of the Dead (FoodiesLX 3rd year Anniversary)
HOUSE OF MEMORY Party (FoodiesLX 3rd year Anniversary)
An evening of good food, music, dancing, community and celebration inspired by Día de los Muertos
This Halloween, FoodiesLX is bringing you a night about food, community, memory and a little bit of mystery.
Remember our Halloween party in 2024? It was our very first official FoodiesLX event, and one of our most memorable nights. This year, we're gathering again for something a little different but with the same magic.
HOUSE OF MEMORY is our invitation to gather again. And we'll make it another memorable party, celebrating 3 YEARS of FOODIESLX!
Inspired by the spirit of Día de los Muertos, a celebration of life, remembrance and togetherness, the evening is built around a simple idea: we keep people and moments alive by sharing them. Through food, stories, rituals, music and the simple act of sitting around a table together.
And with FoodiesLX approaching its third anniversary, this feels like the perfect moment to celebrate how far we’ve come and open the door to what comes next.
Expect an evening of:
A Mexican-inspired feast made for sharing, drinks to get the evening started, and plenty to discover around the table.
Music by Light & Shadow, moving from warm and atmospheric to darker and more playful as the night unfolds.
A beautifully transformed space, inspired by the colours, textures and atmosphere of Día de los Muertos - atmospheric rather than theatrical, with plenty of little details to discover.
And, of course, a proper costume party.
We’re asking you to go all in once again.
Calaveras, flowers, dark glamour, ghosts, forgotten characters, strange creatures, beautiful things that belong to another world...
The more we all commit, the better the night becomes.
Because FoodiesLX has always been about more than going somewhere to eat. It’s about the people you meet, the tables you share and the memories you take home.
So let’s celebrate the memories we’ve already made - and make a few more.

Dia de los Muertos I Inspiration
Its origins lie in Indigenous Mesoamerican beliefs about death, remembrance and the continuing relationship between the living and the departed, later interwoven with Catholic observances brought by the Spanish. Celebrated primarily on 1 and 2 November, it is not simply a day of mourning, but a vibrant expression of love, identity and the enduring bonds between generations.
Families create ofrendas — personal altars adorned with photographs, candles, marigolds, papel picado, favourite foods and meaningful objects — to welcome and remember their loved ones. They gather in homes and cemeteries, share traditional dishes such as pan de muerto, tell stories, play music and keep memories alive through rituals passed down over generations.
At its heart, Día de los Muertos is about connection: the belief that those we love remain part of our lives through the stories we tell, the traditions we preserve and the tables around which we gather. It is a celebration of life, memory, family and community — a reminder that remembering is not about holding on to the past, but carrying it with us into the future.
Abarrotes Mexicanos I by Martha Tomé
Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, and based in Lisbon, Martha is a chef, entrepreneur and passionate advocate for traditional Mexican cuisine. Through Abarrotes Mexicanos, she brings authentic Mexican ingredients and flavours to Portugal, helping people discover the richness and diversity of her country's culinary heritage.
Having learned to cook alongside her mother, grandmother and aunts, Martha carries forward the traditions, techniques and flavours passed down through generations. Her work has earned international recognition, including a distinction from Mexico's Institute for Mexicans Abroad in 2020 and the prestigious Sello M in 2026 for her commitment to authentic Mexican gastronomy.
For Martha, food is more than what we put on the table — it is culture, heritage, memory and a way of bringing people together. We’re delighted to have her as part of House of Memory, sharing the flavours and traditions that make Mexican cuisine so deeply connected to family, community and celebration.

Chef’s Agency STUDIO I Partner Venue
A special thank you to our venue partner, Chef’s Agency, an independent communications and strategic consultancy specialising in gastronomy, working since 2009 to bring visibility to food-related projects and businesses, create meaningful partnerships and connect brands with the wider food and beverage industry.
Beyond its agency work, Chef’s Agency is also home to Chef’s Agency STUDIO, a unique event space in Belém spanning 300 m² across two floors, with fully equipped open-plan kitchens and an elegant, welcoming interior featuring carefully selected Portuguese design details. The studio provides a versatile setting for private dinners with chefs, gastronomic experiences, wine tastings, culinary workshops, corporate events, product launches and bespoke gatherings.
A place where food, creativity and people come together, it’s the perfect setting for us to bring the House of Memory to life. We’re delighted to have them as part of this FoodiesLX celebration.
