This workshop will explore the multifaceted impact of infertility beyond the medical diagnosis. Participants will examine 6 key areas affected by infertility (physical, emotional, mental, financial, relational, and career) and how these challenges shape the experiences of individuals and couples navigating fertility treatments.
We will also highlight practical resources available for patients, their support systems, and medical professionals to foster greater understanding and trauma-informed support throughout the fertility journey. Participants will leave with increased awareness of the broader effects of infertility and tools to better support those impacted.

This informational workshop will begin with a didactic (educational) portion, followed by time for Q&A at the end.
Q: What if I don’t want to be on camera or participate?
No problem. You can have your camera on or off and change your name on Zoom if you’d like, too.
Q: Will the workshop be recorded?
Yes! We will send out the recording to all registered participants + members of the Trauma-Informed Maternal Health Network.
Q: Does this count as therapy?
This workshop is educational in nature and not intended to replace individual or group therapy. Participating in this workshop does not constitute a client- therapist relationship in any way.
Q: I’m a provider. Will I receive CEUs?
While this is a future goal, at this time we do not offer CEUs. Please email [email protected] if you need a certificate of attendance for your school or workplace.
Q: I don’t have personal experience with infertility, but I want to support someone who does. Can I still join?

✨ [ABOUT THE PRESENTERS] ✨
Liz Gray, LCSW, RPT is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified EMDR therapist, and Infertility Warrior. She is also the co-founder of the Trauma-Informed Maternal Health Network that hosting this event- a growing community that connects women navigating infertility, loss, pregnancy, & new parenthood to trauma-informed health and mental health providers.
During her infertility journey, Liz experienced medical retraumatization at the hands of insensitive and negligent providers during IUI and IVF treatment. These experiences fueled the fire for her to provide trauma-informed trainings, offer expert consultations, and create the nationwide Trauma-Informed Maternal Health Directory. Liz lives outside of Chicago, IL with her husband, mini goldendoodle, and 2 year old son, who was conceived via IVF.

Heather Martinez, BA is the Founder and Executive Director of Pineapple Squad, a nonprofit organization she established in 2017 to support individuals and families navigating infertility challenges. She recently attended a session in trauma-informed care and is in the process of certification to better support her network. Heather has worked with the infertility population for nearly a decade through support groups, education, and resource development. She is also a dedicated patient advocate, partnering with fertility clinics to elevate the patient experience and ensure care is compassionate, inclusive, and centered on emotional well-being.
