Freedom Café: Defending Information Integrity in a Digital Democracy
Every election cycle, we talk about misinformation, but what we are seeing right now hits differently. Even before official campaign windows open, political alignment is in full swing. From church pulpits and political rallies to coordinated TikTok trends, X spaces, and WhatsApp audio leaks, the political narrative is being aggressively shaped.
When fake news and propaganda take over, democratic choices suffer, and real-world cohesion is threatened. We know the problems; now we need to focus on the answers. Rather than repeating past conversations about how bad fake news is, this Freedom Café is focused on solutions, practical tools, and institutional accountability. We want to answer a critical question together: How do we practically safeguard information integrity and democratic choice moving forward?
The Freedom Café is an initiative of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) Kenya. It is designed as a safe and inclusive space where participants are encouraged to freely reflect, exchange perspectives, and deepen understanding, rather than to promote fixed positions or prescribed outcomes. While discussions may generate ideas or actions, this is neither an expectation nor a measure of success.

We are bringing together a mix of young voters, digital content creators, civil society actors, tech engineers, and state institutions for an honest discussion on the frontline realities of our political ecosystem.
