About Event

Come fly off course with us and try something new.

Join Alex Bender, co-founder of the NYC Disc Golf Association and designer of NYC's only disc golf course, for a 1.5-hour walk through Highland Park that blends sport, history, and community.

Upper Highland Park sits on the terminal moraine, the southern edge of the last ice age, and was designed in 1894 by Frederick Law Olmsted, the same man behind Central Park and Prospect Park. He called the view from this ridge "distinguished far above any other in the United States." He wasn't wrong.

Along the way, you'll learn the story of how disc golf went from aerospace engineers throwing discs outside NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in the 1970s to one of the fastest-growing sports in the world, and how it finally came to New York City. We will share tips and tricks to get you throwing with confidence, hole by hole.

You'll learn all of it while actually playing. Discs provided. No experience needed. Just wear comfortable shoes and be ready to throw.

Beginner-friendly. Open to all ages. Trail-like terrain with some slopes. Accessible by public transit (A/C/L/J/Z to Broadway Junction).

Meet at the Google Maps pin for "Highland Park Disc Golf Course," near the baseball field at Highland Blvd. and Heath Pl.
