Berkeley and Ivy Circle Beach Day, Scheveningen
The Berkeley Club of the Netherlands is hosting a Beach Day at Scheveningen, and we are glad to welcome friends from the Ivy Circle, the alumni network of leading US universities in the Netherlands.
This is a rare chance to get the whole crowd on one beach. Alumni from Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Penn and Wharton, Cornell, Brown, Dartmouth, Chicago Booth, Kellogg, Notre Dame, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, McGill, and more will all be on the same stretch of sand. Come find out who else from the best schools in the world ended up living a train ride away.
Bring your family, a picnic, and your best beach gear, and come for the whole afternoon or drop in when you can. If you have a volleyball net, paddles, a frisbee, or other beach games, bring them. For fun, there is a prize for the best beach setup, so bring your boldest umbrella, flag, or spread and show it off.
We will gather in front of Fat Mermaid on the Scheveningen beachfront. Look for the blue balloons so you can find the group. Fat Mermaid has restrooms, food, and drinks for purchase.
Getting there: the easiest route is the train to Den Haag Centraal, then a short tram or bus connection out to the Kurhaus, a few minutes from Fat Mermaid. Parking at Scheveningen fills early on summer Saturdays, so public transport is the simpler choice.
For those who want to keep the day going, we will head over to the Summertime Festival at the Grote Markt in The Hague, free to enter, for Latin jazz, salsa, samba, and world music into the evening.
The beach day and festival is free. Please RSVP so we have a rough headcount, and note how many family members you are bringing.
Rain or shine; watch this page for any update if the forecast turns.
Looking forward to an afternoon by the sea.
