FLINTA* + Storytelling in Games Picnic
Hello storytellers! I'm Emily, a narrative designer & games writer 👋
I'd love to invite you to a special edition of the picnic— for September, we're teaming up with the Game Narrative Meetup for one big narrative and storytelling in games bonanza! Everyone is welcome... as long as you bring a tasty treat to share 😉
If you're working on a story-driven game, or if you're a game developer who would love to speak with folks who love a good story, please join us at Volkspark Friedrichshain.
The picnic will kick off at 11am on Saturday, 19th September 2026 and last for a couple of hours.
FAQ
So this version of the picnic is for FLINTA* folks and allies?
Yep, that's right.
But... I'm not a writer?!
That doesn't matter at all! Many different disciplines are needed to bring a narrative-centric game to life.
Why a picnic?
Winter isn't far away, now. Let's enjoy the outdoors while we can. Also, restaurants and cafes are expensive, and they can be hard to hear in. A picnic allows us to stay as long as we want, hear one another easily, and best of all-- bring snacks.
What should I bring?
Something you'd like to talk about related to storytelling in games, and a snack you can eat and that you'd be happy to share. We recommend bringing a picnic blanket, and a pillow to sit on too.
If you're an activities person, feel free to bring that ball, frisbee or boardgame you'd like to share, too. Sunscreen and a hat are essentials as well.
But I have horrible imposter syndrome and I don't think I should come because what if I'm no-
You and me both. Come anyway!
What can I expect to get out of this picnic?
In short, connections & community. And snacks!
