Discovering and Sharing Participatory Futures Projects
This interactive 90 min workshop will engage participants in discovering and sharing Participatory Futures projects from around the world.
It's an opportunity to learn from each other what is new in Participatory Futures, as well as to get to know others in the area.
As part of this we will also introduce and use an open online map of Participatory Futures that is a resource for our community, with over 200 examples from our 2018 Nesta research using the umap platform.
What we'll do:
Round one: in small teams, we map what's happened since 2018 — and go straight at the empty regions
We report back on the most fascinating thing each team found
Round two: themes emerge from what we found, teams pick one theme and go deeper - looking for more examples
We report back again
We close by introducing the chatbot, and the process we'll use to curate it.
Anyone can add to the map. You don't need to be an expert. You need to know one project that isn't on there and share it. Adding it takes about ninety seconds.
The 2018 database now sits behind a chatbot you can query. We'll show the chatbot at the close of the session.
Everything added to the map on the day stays open: anyone can contribute, anyone can browse it.
Adding that material into the chatbot is a separate step. PFGS is a co-operative, and members curate what enters the knowledge base — a decision our members took by vote. If you'd like a hand in that, joining is the way in.
