Post-Quantum Blockchain Dialogue 2026
2026 marks a defining year for post-quantum blockchain.
This year the quantum threat to Bitcoin stopped being a thought experiment. Google Quantum AI, the Ethereum Foundation and Stanford University co-published a full assessment of quantum risk to Bitcoin and Ethereum, putting hard numbers on it for the first time: breaking the elliptic-curve cryptography that secures Bitcoin would take on the order of 1,200 logical qubits.
Abelian is named in that paper twice, cited as relying exclusively on post-quantum cryptography, and as the post-quantum blockchain already running EVM-compatible smart contracts through its QDay zk-rollup. Abelian also ranks #1 of 72 chains on LayerQu's quantum-readiness index this year.
