​Let’s work together to fix tech and strengthen democracy.

​Sparkable, Build Up, and FECoMo are organizing an informal in-person Tech + Democracy meetup in 🇰🇪 Nairobi on Tuesday, May 12, from 4:30–6:00 PM.

​​This interactive gathering will bring together people working at the intersections of civil society, human rights, peacebuilding, tech, design, research, and journalism, as well as anybody who just cares about making technology healthier for democracy and society.

​Purpose

​Our Tech + Democracy meetups are about connection, conversation, and action. We believe that if we want technology to bolster democracy and social cohesion, we must come together, hash things out, and build relationships across disciplines and geographies.

​The goal of the meetup is to find ways for participants to collaborate to strengthen democracy and social cohesion through technology.

​What to expect at our meetups

• ​A guided, interactive, and informal format focused on meeting others and exploring shared questions

• ​Opportunities to exchange experiences and imagine new pathways

• ​No panels: 90% of the time is dedicated to meaningful conversations in rotating small groups

• ​15' Arrival & guiding questions: Settle in and connect

• ​10' Short host intro: Learn about the context, purpose, and hosts of the event

• ​50' Table discussions: Conversations in small groups on key topics and questions gathered from you and other participants ahead of time

• ​15' Closing reflections: Share insights and next steps
