What comes after your postgraduate degree?
For some, it’s a career in academia. For others, it’s a move into industry, a leadership role, a completely different path, or something they never quite expected.
Join us at our next #WeeGather, Beyond the Degree: Navigating life after postgraduate studies, as we bring together WKWSCI alumni whose postgraduate journeys have taken them in very different directions.
Through candid stories and reflections, they’ll share how their studies have shaped their careers, leadership, professional influence and personal growth, as well as some of the unexpected turns along the way.
Meet our speakers:
🎙️ Xiaotian Gao (KM’17) Deputy Director of Human Resources at Winning International Group, Xiaotian has more than 18 years of HR experience across APAC and Africa, specialising in workforce strategy, organisational development, HR transformation and cross-cultural people management. He is an IHRP Senior Professional and graduated from WKWSCI’s MSc in Knowledge Management programme in 2017. Outside work, you might find him diving, rock climbing or skydiving.
🎙️ Sonia Rao (MSIS’15) A technology leader with experience across global companies including Stripe and Meta, Sonia has led teams spanning professional services, partnerships, engineering and scaled operations. She is passionate about developing people and building high-performing teams, and also coaches mid-career professionals. Sonia holds a Master’s in Information Systems from NTU and serves on the NTU WKWSCI Alumni Advisory Board.
🎙️ Benjy Li (PhD’14) Benjy is Associate Professor and Assistant Chair (Undergraduate) at WKWSCI. After completing his undergraduate, Master’s and PhD studies at NTU, he spent two years at Stanford University as a research fellow before returning to WKWSCI. His research examines the psychological and behavioural effects of emerging media and communication technologies, and he received the Nanyang Education Award in 2023 for teaching excellence.
