Palmetto Smile Drive
The Palmetto Smile Challenge is a semester-long oral hygiene drive bringing together the University of South Carolina and Clemson DDS chapters for a friendly competition with a shared mission: giving back through better oral health! 🦷💙
Throughout the semester, members can donate approved oral hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, soap, and other essentials. Each donated item contributes to our chapter’s overall point total, so every donation helps USC get one step closer to taking home the win!
The challenge will continue throughout the fall semester and lead up to the USC vs. Clemson football game on November 28, when the final results of the Palmetto Smile Challenge will be determined. 🏆
Most importantly, this challenge is about more than which school earns the most points. Together, we are using our rivalry to make a meaningful impact by collecting oral hygiene essentials for America’s ToothFairy and helping provide needed resources to underserved members of our communities.

📍 How to Donate
- Bring your oral hygiene donations to any DDS chapter meeting and give them directly to Madeline or Collen. We’ll collect your items and check you off through Luma so your donation is recorded for your service point!
⭐ DDS Service Point
- Members may earn a maximum of 1 service point through the Palmetto Smile Challenge. You are welcome and encouraged to donate as many items and as many times as you would like throughout the semester; however, additional donations will not count toward additional service points.
- To earn your second required service point, you must participate in a DDS volunteer/service event during the semester.
💙 Where Your Donations Go
- This semester, the Palmetto Smile Challenge is proud to support America’s ToothFairy, a nonprofit dedicated to improving access to oral health resources for children and families in need. Our donated oral hygiene items will be distributed back into the Columbia community, helping support local organizations that serve individuals and families experiencing homelessness and other underserved populations.
