About Event

A Sixth of Humanity: Independent India’s Development Odyssey,’ is an excellent attempt to trace India’s development journey, from building a state to forging a sense of nationhood. The book unpacks India’s unique development model, a blend of democracy, socialism, and liberalisation, and examines how this singular trajectory continues to reshape global geopolitics and economics.

A Sixth of Humanity is jointly written by Devesh Kapur, a political scientist, and Arvind Subramanian, a former chief economic advisor. Together, they bring decades of academic and policy experience to this remarkable work.

The authors, Devesh Kapur and Arvind Subramanian, will be in conversation with Pranay Kotasthane, Deputy Director at the Takshashila Institution.

Tea and snacks will be served starting at 5:45 pm.
