The Inner Map Room: An Experiential Group Session on Control and Why We Reach for It
Control: What We Grip, and Why
The everyday urge to control, and what it’s guarding.
We’re taught early that being in control is what capable, responsible people do. Keep it together. Get a grip on things. Plan ahead. Don’t let things slip. But control of what? Of whom? And why does it feel so important to hold on?
Control is woven through everyday life: the checking and re-checking, the stepping in before anyone asks, the rehearsed conversation, the plan that has to go a certain way, the wish for someone in charge to just tell us what to do. That tight hold on how things go is closely tied to power, and to the moments we feel we don’t have much say.
This experiential group session is an invitation to look at control with curiosity, beginning with the body. Where does it live? What does it reach for, and what is it guarding? Nothing to fix, nothing to give up. You’ll leave with a map of your own grip, where it shows up, what feels at stake, and what helps you steady yourself without needing to hold on.
