About Event

We'll meet outside Kingston Station at 12 pm before moving to two Pret stores and two Korean stores selling CJ Group products.

Please RSVP if you're coming so we can let you know if locations/plans change.

What do I do?

No experience needed: if you can pass someone a leaflet or hold a sign, you can do this, and we'll show you the rest when you arrive. Come for an hour or stay for the whole thing. It's a peaceful and friendly protest — some of us hold images, some hand out leaflets, and some have calm conversations with passers-by. You're never obliged to do the talking, and if you do and a question comes up that you're not sure how to answer, you can simply point the person to the organiser or wave them over.

If you have any questions, just tap the "Contact the Host" button to ask.

Why are we asking people to take a break from Pret?

Pret made a public promise to stop using frankenchickens. Their 2026 deadline is here, and 100% of the chicken in their food is still frankenchicken. Frankenchickens are the industry's fastest-growing breeds of chicken, bred to pile on weight so fast that many can barely walk by five or six weeks old, their hearts and legs giving out under their own size. Pret committed to phase them out eight years ago but are sitting on their hands. So we're outside Pret, telling their customers what Pret won't.

Why are we targeting CJ Group - isn't it a Korean brand??

CJ Group is the biggest FNB manufacturer and distributor in South Korea, popular and common in everyday life, not high-end, and universally known but it also works across the globe and is present right here in the UK under the Bibigo branding.

A victory would impact ~2 million hens per year.

Even if CJ Group is 100% cage-free in our country there is still a critical role for local pressure. Our focus is on CJ Group’s global commitment, ensuring hens are free from cages worldwide. One country being fully cage-free does not erase the fact that CJ Group uses eggs from caged hens in other parts of the world. In fact, engaging local CJ Group leadership in countries that are already cage-free can be especially impactful. These teams may feel frustrated with global leadership for creating reputational risks or inconsistency, and ideally, that frustration will be taken up to the global HQ, amplifying pressure for meaningful change worldwide.

What is our campaign ask/goal?

CJ Group to:

We are asking CJ Group to make a time bound 100% cage-free egg (shell, liquid and ingredient) commitment across their global operations.
