What if our everyday non-recyclable waste could be re-engineered into electric energy, resources, and radically lower emissions?
That’s exactly what we’re exploring at this edition of the Hyderabad Climate Party.
In collaboration with Re Sustainability Limited, we’re hosting an exclusive, on-ground experiential tour of their Jawaharnagar Municipal Solid Waste Management (MWS) & Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Facility — key waste management facility for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), processing roughly 2,800 tonnes per day, with an installed capacity of 48 MW. This plant is one of India’s most significant large-scale waste processing ecosystems and the first ever commissioned WtE plant in South India.
This is a rare chance to step inside the complex system that keeps cities running:
How thousands of tonnes of municipal waste are segregated, processed, and diverted from landfills
How science, engineering, and policy intersect to turn waste into usable energy
What waste management actually looks like at city scale
The trade-offs, constraints, and real-world decisions behind large infrastructure climate solutions
The guided tour will unpack behind-the-scenes science, engineering, and operational realities that make planetary-scale outcomes possible — from waste reduction and methane mitigation to energy recovery and emissions management.
