About Event

Canada has many economic immigration pathways, but navigating them is not straightforward.

In partnership with the Sault Community Career Centre, TalentLift is presenting a free information session on the TalentLift Pathways Portal, a public resource designed to help people explore, understand, and navigate Canada’s economic immigration pathways.

The portal is designed through a displacement lens that recognizes the additional barriers many applicants from refugee and displaced backgrounds face, even when they may otherwise qualify for economic immigration programs. It was developed to support newcomers in Ontario from refugee backgrounds who are seeking options to reunite with loved ones still living in displacement, and to expand awareness of economic immigration as a possible family reunification pathway.

What to expect

During this information session, we will:

  • Provide an overview of Canada’s economic immigration system, including federal, provincial, and temporary pathways

  • Discuss how economic immigration works in practice for people living in refugee or displacement circumstances, including considerations around job offers, language requirements, passports and travel documents, and gathering required documentation

  • Introduce the TalentLift Pathways Portal and explain why it was created

  • Demonstrate how to use the portal to compare pathways and explore options

  • Answer questions during a live Q&A discussion

This information session is designed for people currently living in Sault Ste. Marie who are exploring options for family members or loved ones abroad in refugee or displacement circumstances. It is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice or an assessment of eligibility for any immigration program.

We look forward to seeing you there!
