Resilience isn't built when things go to plan. It's built after they fall apart.

Theo Brikas had been trail running for years without much luck. He failed to finish four races in a row, stopped by injuries and by his own head. Then, after many years in banking, he lost his position. Instead of stepping back, he signed up for the Tor des Géants: 330 kilometres through the Alps of the Aosta Valley, one of the hardest trail races in the world.

Several days in, his knees were swollen and the race doctor told him to stop. In banking, the decision had been made for him. On the trail, it was his alone. He finished.

This year he completed a 400-kilometre ultra with 27,000 metres of elevation over seven days, sleeping about 20 minutes a day on average. He now runs his own independent wealth management practice, built from scratch.

On 14 October at Ship26, Theo tells the full story: what he learned from that setback, and how the mindset of ultra-running carries into the rest of life.

Hosted by & in the location of Ship26 - the co-building space in zurich for Founders and Independents.
