Critical Minerals Hub: Brazil’s Strategic Role in the Low-Carbon Transition
As the world accelerates towards a low-carbon future, critical minerals—such as lithium, cobalt, nickel, and rare earth elements—stand at the heart of clean energy technologies. Global demand is projected to double by 2030 and surpass 3 billion tons by 2050, making access, sustainability, and resilience of supply chains a pressing global priority.
Brazil, with nearly 20% of the world’s reserves and vast untapped potential, is uniquely positioned to play a decisive role. Yet, much of the refining still takes place abroad, limiting its strategic value in global markets. At the same time, dependency on concentrated supply chains, particularly in China, raises important questions of security, diversification, and sustainable governance.
This event will bring together leaders from government, industry, finance, and academia to address these challenges and opportunities. It will also mark the official launch of the AYA Critical Minerals Hub, in collaboration with Deloitte Consultores—a new platform designed to advance solutions in sustainable mining, governance, green finance, and international cooperation.
