About Event

🥾The Quest

After the incredible energy of our park-and-bar meetup, it’s time for our next sidequest - and this time, we’re heading into the Bavarian Alps.

We are tackling Jochberg (1,565m, Elevation Gain: 715 m). It is one of the most beautiful intermediate hikes near Munich, rewarding us with a panoramic view of the turquoise waters of Walchensee on one side and Kochelsee on the other. No technical climbing is required, but it is a steady uphill walk through the forest, so a basic level of fitness is needed.

This event is all about pacing ourselves, staying together as a group, and enjoying the journey up to the summit.

⏱️ The Journey Timeline*

We’ll be traveling together using public transport (the Deutschlandticket covers the whole route).

  • 08:30: Meetup at Munich Hauptbahnhof in front of the storage lockers.

  • 09:00: Regional train RB66 (59611) departs toward Kochel, followed by a short connection bus to the trailhead.

  • 10:30: The Ascent begins! We’ll take our time hiking up through the forest trail.

  • 12:30: The Summit. We'll stop at the top for a massive group lunch break, photos, and alpine views.

  • 13:30: We will head down past the Jocheralm (a traditional mountain hut) to grab a cold drink and some food.

  • 16:30: Arrive down at the shores of Walchensee. If the weather is warm, feel free to pack a swimsuit for a quick dip in the lake before we catch the bus and train back to Munich.

  • 18:02 or 19:02: Bus, then train back to Munich.

*We want everyone to have a great time, so we might adjust this timeline a bit based on the group's pace and energy

🎒 Your Backpack Inventory (What to Bring)

To make sure everyone has a safe and comfortable hike, please make sure you bring the following:

  • Sturdy Footwear: Comfortable shoes for your hike, preferably hiking shoes.

  • Water & Lunch: Bring at least 1-2L of water and enough packed food/snacks to keep your energy up until the summit.

  • Cash (Important): The mountain hut at the top does not accept card payments. Bring cash if you want to buy drinks or food at the Jocheralm.

  • Layers & Rain Gear: Check the weather forecast and dress accordingly.

  • Swimwear & Towel: Optional, if you want to jump into Walchensee at the end!

✨ The Vibe

  • Just like our last event, this is a very welcoming, low-pressure space. We will stay together as a pack so nobody gets left behind. Whether you are an experienced hiker or looking to conquer your very first alpine peak, you’ll find a supportive group of people to chat with every step of the way.

  • Space is limited to keep the group manageable on the mountain trail, so please only RSVP if you are sure you can make it!

A little rain won't stop us! We will still hit the trail unless the weather forecast turns unsafe for hiking.
