From Survive to Thrive: Four Habits Every Nonprofit Team Needs

Most nonprofit teams aren’t short on commitment. They’re short on time, and stretched across more work than any plan accounts for. Grant deadlines collide with program launches. Priorities shift weekly. The strategic plan sits on the shelf while the urgent crowds out the important work.

These four questions come up again and again for nonprofit leaders:

  • “How do we make progress when the work feels too big?”

  • “How do we stay focused when everything feels urgent?”

  • “How do we stay aligned when we’re juggling competing responsibilities?”

  • “How do we keep our energy up and keep learning?”

In this interactive, one-hour workshop, you’ll learn four habits that answer them: Short Cycles, Focus, Visibility, and Reflection. Drawn from Agile practice and adapted for mission-driven teams, these habits work as a capacity multiplier, not corporate process. They help you decide, week to week, where limited time goes so the work that protects your mission actually gets done.

These aren’t theories. We’ll share how real nonprofit teams have put these habits to work: finishing projects that had stalled for months, getting staff and volunteers on the same page, and making steady progress on the goals that matter most, even with small teams and tight budgets. You’ll see what changed for them and what it could look like for you.

You’ll connect each habit to the challenges your team is facing right now, and leave with ideas you can put into practice right away.

This workshop is for executive directors, operations leads, program managers, and anyone running a small team, or running the show solo with a few volunteers. Teams are encouraged to attend together.

Complimentary coffee and breakfast pastries will be served.

Facilitated by Andrew Don and Eric Wu, co-founders of Catalyst Impact Studio, which helps nonprofits and small teams build the operating systems that turn big goals into consistent progress.
