Making Room: Songs and Stories of Hope | Feat. Mitchell Cohen, CEO of The Daniels Corporation
Few major developers started out leading tenant marches on city hall. Mitchell Cohen did, in Montreal in 1973.
As CEO of The Daniels Corporation, he's spent the four decades since building nearly 40,000 homes across the GTA and leading one of the most ambitious neighbourhood transformations in North America: the revitalization of Regent Park.
The Regent Park revitalization has become an international model for inclusive, community-led urban transformation, recognized by the World Urban Forum and studied by cities around the world. Its principles of resident rights, public-private partnership, and community-led vision are still shaping how cities approach revitalization today.
For this evening, Mitchell takes the stage himself, sharing stories and never-before-heard songs from the Regent Park journey and from his own life. He'll be joined by Colleen Allen (reeds), Eric St-Laurent (guitar), and Henry Heillig (bass).
Come for an evening of music, candid reflection, and a story that has shaped how Toronto thinks about its own neighbourhoods.
