teamscape Lab: How Your Team Diagnoses Problems
We all have different cognitive approaches to the same problem. Two people can look at the same team problem and land on completely different diagnoses.
Neither is wrong. They are running different mental maps: one sees a chain of cause and effect, the other sees a web of interdependencies; one grounds in specific data, the other reasons from broader principles. Those maps decide what the problem is, and what counts as a solution.
Seeing that map becomes a lot simpler with teamscape®, a framework for reading how teams actually think and work together. This evening, the focus will be on one teamscape dimension: "Sense Making." This dimension shows our preference for linear <> systemic reasoning, and concrete <> abstract problem-solving.
In this live, in-person lab, you will:
Locate your own approach to problem analysis: do you trace specific cause-and-effect chains, or map broader patterns and interdependencies? Do you ground in concrete data, or reason through frameworks?
Work a real-time challenge in a small group built from people who think differently than you, and see exactly where that difference creates confusion, and how to then create clarity.
Leave with one concrete commitment for how your own team can put this to use.
Built for managers, team leads, coaches, consultants, and anyone who has watched a team disagree about a problem and wondered whether they were even arguing about the same thing.
You do not need to bring your own team. Groups are mixed on purpose.
Facilitated by Jörg Schmitz (The Inclusive Leadership Institute), with a grounding practice by Marcelina Drozd (Heartwork Space), hosted by Jeremy Brian at the EY office in Mitte.
