Risk & Compliance Forum | C-LAB
About the Event
The Risk & Compliance Forum is part of a series of events organized by Compliance Laboratory - C-LAB, aimed at facilitating dialogue on financial crime threats, sanctions circumvention and regulatory compliance challenges.
This Forum will mark an important milestone: the establishment of the Compliance Professionals’ Society, a professional community bringing together regulatory compliance and risk management professionals in Georgia. The founders will present the strategy behind the initiative, its objectives and planned activities, as well as its membership and governance arrangements.
The Risk & Compliance Forum will also host the ACAMS Global Threats Roundtable as a side event, bringing together industry leaders and senior practitioners. The Roundtable will contribute to the ACAMS Global Threats Report by identifying and analyzing key financial crime threats affecting Georgia and the wider region.
The Forum will feature a discussion with ACAMS Global AFC Expert George Voloshin on the practical implementation of international financial sanctions from a Georgian and third-country perspective. The session will explore potential solutions to practical challenges encountered by sanctions compliance professionals in their day-to-day work.
Crystal Intelligence will present its analysis of sanctions circumvention techniques and trends involving virtual assets in Georgia. The increasing adoption of blockchain technologies creates new challenges, but also new opportunities, requiring sophisticated, knowledge-based approaches to risk management.
The Forum will also feature an expert panel of financial crime practitioners addressing regulatory and supervisory challenges related to verifying beneficial ownership, establishing Source of Wealth and Source of Funds, and other topical issues. The discussion will seek to identify best practices that ensure regulatory requirements effectively serve their intended purpose of combating financial crime rather than becoming costly and inefficient technical compliance exercises.
Finally, the Forum will provide an opportunity for networking with peers, meeting industry leaders and engaging with providers of modern compliance technologies, accompanied by food and drinks.
