Open Call: Seattle Black Improv Ensemble
Calling all Seattle-area Black improvisers, actors, comedians, and storytellers!
The Improv Place is forming a brand-new, all-Black performance ensemble dedicated to in-person comedy shows and a future online sketch comedy series. We welcome local performers (and aspiring performers) from across the African diaspora to come out, play, and create with us.
Whether you are a seasoned stage veteran, a stand-up comic, or just the funniest person in your friend group, we want to see you!

Location: Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute (104 17th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98144)
📝 How to Prepare
The short answer: You don't have to! Just bring your energy, come as you are, and be ready to smile.
Here is what you can expect during the open call:
Group Improv Exercises: We will lead the group through fun, low-pressure improv games designed to let your natural personality and humor shine.
Optional Screen Test: Interested in the future online sketch show? We will be running a quick, 30-second individual screen test for anyone who wants to try out for our digital content.

Don’t let that stop you! This is a welcoming, collaborative space built on community. Experience is a plus, but raw joy, presence, and a willingness to try are what we value most.
