Grafting & Pruning - with Kamiti

​Spend the day at Mlango Farm learning about grafting and pruning with instructor Kamiti. This workshop is a chance to learn practical skills, take the mystery out of grafting and pruning, and give you the confidence to care for and improve your own trees. Whether you’re working with young seedlings or established fruit trees, you’ll learn how to make the right cuts, encourage healthy growth, and even combine varieties through different grafting techniques.

What we will cover:

• ​Principles of pruning and plant response:
  Go beyond cutting branches, learn how trees respond to pruning, including how cuts influence growth direction, vigor, and fruiting.

• ​Choosing the right rootstock and scion:
  Learn how to select strong, disease-free plant material and why the combination of rootstock and scion determines tree size, resilience, and yield.

• ​Pruning time: When to prune different types of trees for the best results.

• ​Different grafting techniques (such as cleft and whip grafting) and when to use each.

​​​​Who Can Attend?

​This workshop is intentionally designed for absolute beginners. You don't need any prior experience!
