A 2-hour virtual workshop from The Art of Being With series

What happens inside of us when we know we need a boundary, but setting it brings up guilt, fear, uncertainty, or the possibility of disappointing someone?

Boundaries are often taught as something we establish with other people. Yet before a boundary is spoken, there is an inner experience asking for our attention. We may need to recognize what we want, listen to what our body is communicating, honor a limit, or remain with the discomfort that comes when we choose not to abandon ourselves.

Apapacharnos: Being with Boundaries invites us to approach boundaries through tenderness, self-relationship, and embodied awareness.

Apapacharnos speaks to the practice of offering ourselves a soul-deep embrace. In this workshop, we bring that tenderness into the places where our needs meet our relationships. Rather than approaching boundaries only as a firm yes or no, we'll explore what boundaries reveal about how we relate to ourselves, our needs, our life force, and the people we care about.

Together, we'll explore the emotions and patterns that can surface around boundaries, including guilt, obligation, fear of rejection, resentment, overgiving, and the desire for approval. Through compassionate inquiry, reflection, and embodied practices, we'll learn to notice what happens within us when a boundary is needed and practice staying in relationship with ourselves as we respond.

During our time together, we'll explore:

  • Recognizing the body's signals around yes, no, enough, and not yet

  • The relationship between boundaries, needs, and self-trust

  • How family and relational patterns can influence the boundaries we create

  • Being with guilt, fear, disappointment, and other emotions that may arise when honoring a boundary

  • The difference between creating distance and creating conditions for relationship

  • Compassionate and embodied practices for tending ourselves before, during, and after expressing a boundary

A boundary does not always mean closing a door. Sometimes it clarifies how we can remain in relationship without leaving ourselves behind.

What becomes possible when a boundary becomes an expression of relationship rather than rejection?

This workshop is open to everyone. You do not need to have attended Apapacharnos: Befriending What Hurts to participate.

Come as you are, with a boundary you are navigating, a pattern you are beginning to recognize, or simply a desire to understand your relationship with boundaries differently.

The Art of Being With asks a guiding question: How do I learn to be with what arises in my own life?

In this gathering, we practice being with the tenderness, clarity, and discomfort that can arise when we choose to honor what we need.
