About Event

Unlike preceding AI summits, the India AI Impact Summit will take place amid intense geopolitical and “de-globalization” dynamics. These tensions further fragment technology markets and accelerate races to build frontier and sovereign AI, often at the expense of AI safety.

The demand for data, chips, infrastructure, and talent to advance national AI infrastructures are checked by concerns over the speed, magnitude, and concentration of AI development and adoption.

These frictions extend beyond the AI superpowers of the U.S. and China and safety stalwarts of the E.U. and U.K. India, as a Global Majority heavyweight, can significantly influence how AI development and safety requirements are balanced on a global scale. With a projected AI market worth 17 billion by 2027 and demonstrated success in scaling secure digital public infrastructure and cultivating AI talent, India can bring into focus the tensions between open access, sovereign vs. imported systems, and operational safety at scale.

Translating this potential into tangible commitments requires industry and political will to develop consensus on how safety is understood, engineered, and managed at the frontier. A playbook around safety and risk management is quickly emerging along the value chain to coordinate, standardize, and verify that AI development and use can be safe and trusted. Yet, importantly, with frontier firms and hyperscalers holding the majority of AI resource and innovation power as compared to downstream players, how they approach data and algorithmic governance, risk management, evaluation and verification mechanisms increasingly defines what trusted AI adoption looks like in practice.

Shared Responsibility: Industry and Future of AI Safety is a satellite event organized by AI Safety Connect and the DGA Group during the India AI Impact Summit. It will convene industry players for curated panel discussions on how the private sector and key country stakeholders can help shape frontier AI safety practices, norms and standards.
